Let’s look at social media updates for food, drink and hospitality brands for August 2026.
ICYMI: July 2026 Social Media Updates
Facebook and Meta Updates
Meta AI Detection Tool
Meta has launched Content Seal, an invisible watermarking technology designed to identify AI-generated images.
Currently, the system only tags content created with Meta’s Muse model. Functioning similarly to Google’s SynthID, these hidden signals are built to survive cropping, compression, and screenshots.
For now, detection is limited to a standalone web tool with daily rate caps, though Meta plans to eventually integrate detection features directly into its core platforms.
Meta AI Detection Tool
In more AI updates from Meta, they have pulled a newly launched Instagram AI remix feature just two days after release following widespread user backlash.
Introduced alongside Meta’s Muse model, the tool allowed users to integrate public posts into AI-generated images by @ tagging profiles. Enabled by default for all public accounts, it sparked immediate concerns from creators and talent agencies over identity theft and misuse.
Meta confirmed the feature has since been disabled. Public backlash to AI is certainly an interesting thing to keep an eye on!

Facebook “Creator Activity”
Facebook has added a new “Creator Activity” section to the Professional Dashboard for Pages, helping creators track their activity, understand their growth, and build consistent posting habits. The feature also lets users set activity goals and choose a weekly focus to stay on track.

Change Music on Live Posts
Something that we’ve all wanted at some point! You can now change the audio on a post, while keeping the post completely live. You won’t lose any of your existing engagement or metrics, and you won’t get burned by the algorithm punishing a “repost” with new audio. Win win.

TikTok Updates
Ads Plan
In some regions TikTok have published an “Ads Plan” button without functionality, potentially a nod towards a future ad free subscription plan coming our way:
Mini Dramas
TikTok has introduced Mini Dramas, allowing brands to publish episodic series directly on the platform.
Creators can publish via the dedicated TikTok Minis Center using pay-to-unlock or ad-supported viewing models. To boost reach, TikTok also launched TikTok Growth Max, an automated ad solution that leanrs audience behaviours and helps advertisers scale audience engagement and further monetise content.
Final Takeaway
In a surprise to nobody, AI and monetisation of these platforms continue to be the trend across the board. If you’re a food brand, being able to change audio on published posts may be incredibly helpful and using the “Creator Activity” feature may help you get more out of your page.
