Our story

Social etc. was founded in May 2021 by Sophie Williams (née Neal) during a national lockdown.

Sophie writes the award-winning food and lifestyle blog, Sophie etc. which has an online community of over 30,000. Her blog helps people find great independent eats and adventures in Milton Keynes and in the process, it has helped raise the profile of numerous independent businesses in the area.

Prior to launching the business, Sophie worked at Bletchley Park Trust as the Social Media & Content officer, gaining hands on experience of using social media to connect with an audience. A unique challenge, as most of her time at Bletchley Park was spent managing socials during lockdown, when the museum was closed to the public.

In 2021, she launched Social etc. to help the many brilliant but time-poor small businesses in Milton Keynes who needed expert social media management.

What started as a purely organic social offering quickly evolved. Larger clients began seeking high-quality content creation, deeper strategy, and influencer management. By building a network of skilled freelance specialists, Social etc. expanded its capabilities and client base.

In 2025, her husband Dan joined to lead paid social and business development, bringing with him a successful background in delivering managed services for the technology sector.

Together, Sophie and Dan decided to focus exclusively on food, drink, and hospitality brands, an industry they’re deeply passionate about, delivering tailored, impactful social media services for the clients they know best.
